Do you have skills in English, Maths or Digital Skills (Level 2 or above) that you would like to share? Learning Pembrokeshire’s adult Essential Skills classes always have room for a friendly volunteer.

Volunteers can be a great help to the tutors and learners, helping out in classes where learning can be widely differentiated.

Volunteers have, in the past, come from all walks of life. Some may be retired teachers whilst other may have never taught at all. All our volunteers, though, gain great satisfaction from helping learners to gain new skills, inspiring confidence, and building relationships with the class members. As one of our current volunteers puts it:

"Being a volunteer with Adult Learning is very rewarding. It is a privilege to meet the adult learners and to be a part of their educational journey and achievements."

For some of our volunteers, it has even opened up a whole new world: put them on a new career path, and, with time and training, encouraged them to become tutors themselves.

We have Essential Skills classes in all the learning centres: Tenby, Pembroke Dock, Haverfordwest and Fishguard and outreach in Milford.
