When I first moved to Pembrokeshire from Sydney I didn't know anyone in the area, my eldest was starting school for the first time (and hating it) and my husband was still working overseas for months at a time. It was a very lonely time and although everybody was really friendly I was finding it hard to move past the quick 'hellos' at the school gate.

When I first saw the flyer for Springboard I was encouraged to participate as a way of helping my son feel more settled at school, I could have never imagined how much Springboard would change for me personally....Firstly, the amazing women who sat opposite me that very first Springboard session, mothers I had not spoken to before, have become my village, we've shared untold amounts of laughter, tears and Springboard courses over the years since! After a few months I was asked to join the Friends of Springboard where I reignited a part of myself that I had lost, getting involved in projects and working towards a goal that I could take pride in. Volunteering gave me a chance to utilise the corporate skills from my life pre-motherhood while also making me feel part of something special, so when I was offered the opportunity to become part of the Springboard team helping to set up a new and exciting outdoor space at Johnston School I could not have been happier.

The Springboard team are really an amazing community, they provide a gateway to friendship and family, confidence and self-worth all while offering great family learning opportunities. Thank you Springboard for kickstarting what has been a great few years....I'm sure there's a lot more to come!
